Jan Marius Kiøsterud
Jan Marius Kiøsteruds artistic practice focuses on abstract sculpture and installations, in conceptual and material based investigations.
Kiøsterud works with materials, techniques and references to art historical traditions that are set against, and together with, contemporary references in an exploration when merging different materials or shapes.
Organic and abstract forms are set against sharp edges and geometric elements that derive from a search for the imperfect. The sculptures only has a few balancing points to give the impression of movement and volatility, almost turning it into a performative expression, which mediates a balance between the concrete and the fragile.
Jan Marius Kiøsterud (b. 1980) is a Norwegian/Swedish artist who studied visual arts at Akademin Valand in Gothenburg, Swden, the National Academy of the Arts in Oslo, Norway and Jutland Art Academy, Århus, Denmark. Kiøsterud is based in Malmö, Sweden, since 2016.
